Right this is going to be a very stupid question for all you experts but here goes. I am going to buy some Shackles but i dont know which to get the 4.5 tonne ones or the 6 tonnes ones??

It's the tested lifting capacity. Hence the idea that you should go as big as realistically possible. In nearly all cases, 2.5 times the weight of your car is OK. If you go too big, you might not get the shackle pin through your recovery points!
