Sunroof (oh no not another!)
mike142sl:
This subject seems to crop up a lot as I have found using the search. However the problem I have doesn't seem to feature yet.
I have no problem using the tilt operation. It tilts up and back down again. But when I slide the sunroof open the motor doesn't want to know when I press to slide it back. Anyone any ideas why?
Range Rover Blues:
I hope you know there is a micro switch to make the sunroof pause in the closed position rather than go from tilted to slide open without stopping. You could call it a park switch. Check this is working, or perhaps easier, check there is current to the motor when trying to open
As an alternative, take out you key and try opening it manually, then see if it closes.

Thanks for the reply. But the problem is after opening it on slide. When I come to close it the motor doesn't want to know so I have to close it manually with the T key - a pain when on the move!
Range Rover Blues:
Sorry i didn't read that properly (it was late  ) anyway, i might suggest that your mechanism is sticky or the motor has a problem in that it doesn't produce the same torque when closing as opening, but my first shot would be the mechanism is full of cack. Give it a soaking in WD40.
Is it really stiff to turn by hand?
Have you tried wiring the motor up directly?
mike142sl:
It's not too difficult to close by hand, I'll try the WD40 tonight. The Haynes states there should be a relay just inside the interior light flap, but there is nothing there on mine. I was wondering if it might be a faulty relay but I can't find it?
