the loon:
SWMBO was at local forest festival (see www.chopwellfestival.org for full info) selling her jewellery etc in the craft tent.
I noticed greenpeace had a table yesterday but couldnt be bothered to go and see if I got any responce (I was wearing a land rover tee-shirt)
Noticed today though that the ramblers had a table right next to greenpeace ......

Ok today I could be bothered to walk over and say hello

When and had a look at the greenpeace stand - just one skiny pale looking guy who wasnt geting out in the sun enough and I think the diet of natural yogurt and bean sprouts where taking there tole. He was nice enougth and gave me a couple of leaflets on rainforrest destruction (they had nothing about anti 4x4 stance there - I think maybe something to do with the fact that almost every vechicle there with something to do with the event was a 4x4 and there where of course loads of forrestry commison green ovals driving about the sight    )

Next it was onto the ramblers stand.
Stopped and had a browse of there leaflets etc and the guy looks up looks at me gets up to start talking about all the wonderful benefits of membership e.g bigotted views of any one with a different opinion to them notices a land rover shirt sits back down and ignores me. I was most hurt

I did take one of there leaflets though so thought this would be a laugh for everyone

heres a couple of small quotes - (all word for word ramblers bilge is written in red)

We believe in the power of walking.
What other activity stirs the sould so easily? What else lifts the spirit boosts the body and frees the mind? No other pastime wraps lifes simplest pleasures of fresh air , nature , and beautiful views in so perfect a package

You can get your pen out and write a letter to your MP (on issues such as costal access or restricting 4x4 vechicle use on country lanes)

You can get your hands dirty and clear a footpath

However on another page they say

At the heart of the ramblers association is a belief that everyone should have the opportunity to experiance the freedom that can be found in the hills and valleys the coastline and the rolling countryside around us.

does that sound a bit biast  :?:

allow me to translate into my version -

The ramblers association has the belief that its the right of every rambler to go where they chose but everyone elses (especialy if they drive a 4x4) can go take a long drive off a short pier.
We at the ramblers association have a very "unique" view of the phraise everyone  - our deffinition of everyone - JUST US

Edge:
There's plenty of footpaths out there....... ban ramblers from green lanes/country tracks.

I really don't understand why these ramblers are so hooked up on taking away our freedom of choice.
They really do have vast amounts of public footpaths that vehicles cannot use, so why do they want more :?:

oh come on thats not totaly fair...

we need someone to point and laugh at when we are driving in the rain and they are getting soaking wet because they forgot to pack there kagools

Range Rover Blues:
Personally I'd have waited 'till he had a few people around him then gone and challenged his views on rights of access, ie "why are the RA so bl**y selfish".

funny thing was they never had any one around them not over the whole 2 days.

People would walk past and not even give there stand a second glance
