Top Speeds?

<< < (5/8) > >>

Devon-Rover:
No your perfectly normal. I didn't get a landy to go fast, ( it was to go anywhere!) But It isn't the case of my truck goes faster than your truck mentality. It is nice just to see what they do, and it is pretty apparent that 45 - 60 is the common band of speeds for a series to be going at.

It all goes back to the age old question!  Is it normal that my landy?: Smokes / Leaks / Goes 55MPH / Makes funny thumping noises. etc ...etc...

I haven't a prob with the speed of mine ( Goes faster than my mates 2.25 Diesel   ) But It is a nice reassurence that it tallys with the general speeds of everyone else says.

22900013A:
my one ton (900x16 tyres with IIB ratio gearbox) will cruise at 45 mph, but I have had 62mph out of it. Thats with a 2.6 petrol.

--- Quote from: "Paul.K/LuckyTrucker" ---Hi there, I have to ask, why do you guys seem obsessed by speed. If you have a Series LR with a 4 pot engine you have to accept it will be slow unless you have no mechanical sympathy whatsoever.

If I wanted to go fast I would have a Porsche Cayene but then that is so different from driving a LR and such a dissappointment compared to a LR.

Am I a bit strange :?

If you had a Cayene we'd laugh !
But as for knowing what it would do ....well...its just an anorak thing isn't it? You know like how far can you wade, or how much can you lean before falling over etc.....hmmmm I can see some new threads coming.....

James.Harwood:

--- Quote ---To my knowledge the 2.25 Petrol redlines at 4,250 and has max power output at 4,000 while the 2.25 Diesel redlines at 4,000 and has max power further down the rev range.

True for standard engines.

Kevs2A:
My first LR was a 2.25 diesel 88 and it was pretty much flat out at a tad over 65, overdrive and 750 tyres. Good little tool.

The Series 2a with 3.5 V8, RR diffs, 750s and overdrive is happiest at about 65-70 on motorways but will pull and pull up to the magic ton
