Cars You Missed

Bush Tucker Man:
With due regard to the two threads; 'First Car To Do A 'Ton' In' & 'First Car'

After browsing some of the answers, it was interesting to see the variety of marques & models.

So, on a similar basis, I'm going to enquire about what cars you're all regretting not buying, or even simply driving at some point during your motoring life, or indeed prior to the vehicles demise into (possible?) classic/'old-nail' status.

Just a couple of ground rules, to keep it within reason
1 No Supercars, ie; fast-Fiats (Ferraris), rapid tractors (Lambo's),etc...... (sadly that also rules out the snake - the AC Cobra)
2. Standard production-line cars, orderable from any main-dealer
3. Cars, not 4x4s for this one, please  *

So I'll start the ball rolling, with reasons as far as possible

1 Triumph Dolomite Sprint.
A very 'British' car. it still stands out in my mind for its engine & the seemingly amazing (at the time) to exceed 40MPH in 1st gear!! (@6500RPM)
Someone opposite my parents when I was a kid had a green one & he used to make it 'howl' on a morning, could hear him heading off down the Common

2. Vauxhall Senator 3.0
Still revered by quite a few of 'old-school' Traffic Officers I speak to as being one of the best 'traffic cars' ever produced.
The sight of one on the M62 at a (guesstimated?) 140MPH still stands in my mind
An executive car to equal the Teutonic brigade (& Yes!, I know it's an Opel  )

3 Ford Capri 2.8i
Just brings a smile to my face when ever I see one, the (run-out edition) 280 is  even nicer.

4. Lotus Sunbeam
What a perfect little car, just so right in its looks
Oh to have one as a 'Q-Car' on pension day & annoy the Chavs

5. Rover P5B
Quintissentially British car. Used by Prime Ministers up to (the early days of ) John Major. (& the first Rover to use the ex-Buick V8 )

6. VW Golf GTi (mark1)
The car that really started the 'hot-hatch' phenomema.
I'm not a fan of this genre, but would like to try a bog-stock one out of sheer curiosity.

*I mean 'off-road' 4x4's, not vehicles like Cosworths, Quatro, Interceptor FF, etc....

Tht'll do for a starter

They will hold and cruise 140 easilly. My dad had an ext traffic one. I'll always remeber the way that big stright 6 roared when you stomped it, sounded like it had afterburners :)

Always got the car I wanted but the one I missed out on was a supercar so :P

Was gutted missing out on an Audi RS2 a couple of years ago.

Bishops Finger:
2.8 Capri...no contest   8)  8)  - still look good to this day

wing nut:
nsu ro80,what a beutiful car so ahead of its time ,shame about the crap rotary engine though (usually replaced with the ford v4)

ford corsair ..dont see many about today

morris marina i had 4

mini ,say no more

escort rs 2000 ..nice

willies jeep

dew1911:
1. Vauxhall Lotus Carlton/ Opel Lotus Omega
What a car, 5 seats of pure speed, still is one of the fastest 5 seaters produce with a top speed knocking around the 180mph mark. Great looking as well.

2. Audi S1 Quattro
The Origional, the engine slung on top of the headlights but what an example of German enginering at it's finest.

Sure I'll possibly get some more later.
