don't put anything heavy up there, just the bikes... if theres only four or five of you going away, you shouldn't need to load it up camel style..

Put as little as possible on the roof, and keep anythign heavy in the back.

You say no trailers on the ferry....do they know about the height of the 110+rack+bikes+luggage???
