Yesterday's mountain biking on Mount Parnitha

(1/2) > >>

alaric:
I went riding yesterday on Mount Parnitha (site of the 2004 Olympic MTB Course) with the guys from Crazy Bike World.

After parking at the bottom by the cable car, we rode up the fire road, before starting down a singletrack trail that we haven't used before.

Simos assured us that he had walked the trail 10 years ago (!), and it would eventually take us to the Cave of Pan. The trail was excellent to start with, with several km of varied technical terrain - smooth twisty track and rocky section with a few drop offs.

When we made the last turn off toward the cave, though, the trail deteriorated a bit, and we ended up walking about 5km, carrying the bikes.

The ride was excellent though, and will need further investigation - we won't make the last turn next time though!

We had a couple of comedy dismounts on route, including one from yours truly, caused by a rock hiding under a bush - looked worse than it was though.

There are a few pics below, and the rest here.

That looks like fun!!!  :D

I keep meaning to dust my Specialized off and start riding properly again!

And I always fancined taking it abroad....

<hrmm.... goes to off to look at prices>

alaric:
Come and see us!

Prices for Autumn are particularly good, as we are running a promotion - details on the website.

Start with flight prices and work backwards!

Riding's not compulsory either, there's plenty of eating, drinking, loafing by the pool or beach, sightseeing...
