Boost on a 200tdi

(1/2) > >>

Xtremeteam:
what is a decent amount of boost to set on a 200tdi?

running 12psi just now (standard  :? )

Porny:
Safe amount 1 bar - 14.7 psi.

Both my 200Tdi's have run this without a problem....

Just shorten the actuator as far as it will go (till it bottoms out), and you should get 1 bar.
However, the turbo will supply up to about 1.4 bar (20psi), but I wouldn't run that much... 'may' shorten your engine life

If you cut some of the thread off the actuator arm, you should be able to shorten it enough to get 17psi... which if not an everyday motor, should be ok (i know people who run this without a problem).  This will be about the limit of your actuator though.....

Then just adjust the fueling to suit - once you've got a means to measure your EGT.

I ran my 200 with the wategate welded shut and the fuel turned up, the engine itself was fine but the turbo s**t its self after less that 1000 miles.       Just depends what your after.  If your looking for more boost there are many turbos that will fit a 200 manifold just dont go to big or the motor will become as "laggy" as hell, and that aint what you want off road.  If you went for a 300tdi manifold i can recomend a merc sprinter turbo this fits with a bit of machining to accomadate the larger exhaust impelers gives a bit more boost and aint to "laggy".  Ive had this setup on mine since the last rebuild and so far its been hassle free :) (i bet it blows up this week now ive said that  )

Really..... is that a normal turbo, or a VNT one??

Any chance of some more details.
