Transfer Boxes
Wolfie:
I'm wondering about swapping the transfer box in the racer as I think a 1.6 ratio might suit her better than the 1.4 that's in there at the moment, the ratios just felt all wrong at Ellesmere last weekend.
My question is..... will I have any problems if I swap a 1.4 ratio LT230T for a 1.6 ratio LT230R.
Cheers

You shouldn't do.... will be quick off the mark though!!!
You need a 12D or 20D suffix transfer box for the 1.667:1 ratio.

Cheers for that, was just wondering if there was any significant difference.
Being quick of the mark would be useful, particularly as Mrs Eeyore did helpfully comment that I was the slowest up the first straight at Ellesmere. The main thing is to close the ratios up a bit. Some of the grassland sections were so power sapping that I had to sit on the rev limiter in second as she just died if I did change up. It might also allow me to use all the gears, only got up to 4th a couple of times each lap and still had 5th waiting to be used.

We are just talking about in High Range... aren't we???
As all transfer boxes have the same low ratio 'ratio'.....
What gearbox are you using?
Ian
Wolfie:
Yep, high range, low range only gets used when it's all going horribly wrong and I didn't need to resort to it last weekend.
Gearbox is LT85 (Santana 5 speed), on the back of a standard 3.9 V8

Wolfie
