ARGH !!! Damn Land Rover
Kenny:
Started to do those jobs that have been waiting for ages before next weeks b'day bash and I am really peed off now.
Damper - Can't get the old one off without removing the steering guard which also involves removing the winch, bumber, jates and guard. Give that one a miss for now.
Tried to replace the sealed headlight - old mounting totally corroded as were the screws for the side light and indicator - had to drill them out and damaged both lights in the process. Got to repalce both as well as a new Headlight mounting.
Did the clutch master cylinder, bled it but peddle is far too loose now. Fed up can;t be bothered to bleed again just yet.
Replaced the radiator that I had removed to clean out all the mud. In the process it seems I have punctured the rad. Fluid leaking. New rad called for.
Adjust the fan belt - undid most bolts on the alternator, but can I get the last one at the back un-done - no chance. Needs to be done though as there is about 20 mm of give in it. Think I'll replace it and get a spare at the same time.
Still can't tighten the loose bolt on the prop behind the hand brake drum. Just rotates around and around.
Any tips to help me get this all done as time is running out and I really, really want to go next weekend.
:(

HiFonics:
Sounds like you have about as much luck with vehicle maintenance as I do :D
Good luck with getting it all sorted. You might get a sensible reply once everyone gets back from Billing.

Sharpshooter:
Remember that old saying More Haste Less Speed. RUBBISH....
MORE MATES LESS WORK. Try removing the drum, and either changing the bolts, or just tack the bolts in the drum with a welder.

Well I'm getting there slowly - radiator to fit, fan belt to adjust then clutch to bleed and all done for the Weekend. Just got to brace myself for the 3hr + drive in an old utility 90. :(
