French diesel

Going to france in the summer i have six jerry cans. Is there a limit to the ammount of fuel you can carry on a disco? and is there a quantity of fuel that requires you to pay duty at either English or french ports?

:)  :) At the Supermarche it is around 1 Euro per litre...still cheaper than here but for really cheap diesel Belgium is the place...

Diesel:
Diesel carried by private individuals is not regulated as regards how much may be carried and how. Anyone contemplating carrying diesel in a vehicle should bear in mind the potential for fire and the likelihood of spillage from inadequate containment.

Petrol: Regulations made under the Petroleum (Consolidation) Act 1928 control the quantities of petrol permitted to be kept in containers for private use. This limit also applies to carriage. A maximum of two metal containers each up to 10 litres capacity, plus a maximum of two suitable and appropriately-marked plastic containers each up to five litres capacity, can be kept in a motor vehicle.

The problem might be the rules of the ferry company or the train compnay (if Eurotunnel)

I don't think that the ferry companies allow you to carry fuel other than what is in the  actual fuel tank of the vehicle. But then that is a case of wether they find it or not. Is it worth it for six jerry cans though.
When i was in france last summer diesel worked out about 20p a litre cheaper, so six jerry cans worth would save you £24.
