KAM Diff Lock
« on: May 23, 2006, 22:24:49 »
Has anyone had any experience with a KAM locker for the SJ?
KAM is a UK based company (www.kamdiffs.com).They've brought out a new solenoid actuated locker where everything fits inside the diff housing (ie no awkward bits sticking out). Seems to be a lot like the ARB locker except with an electric solenoid, not air driven.
I'm looking into the possibility of fitting one, but want to check out oppinion before I do.
Thanks

Keep Zukying

They used to need new halfshafts and allsorts of stuff, and be double the cost of an ARB.
Dunno about this new one, but check the costs first. ARB lockers come recommended, and are bloody good/reliable.

I wouldnt spend extra cash just to be 'different'
Go on....cut me in half........it says SUZUKI all the way thru the middle!!

Don't forget that with KAM you need to have the rear of the axle cut open for their plate to be fitted.

They do supply new halfshafts with the kit but £528.75 (plus axle mod cost) isn't cheap imho :)

Hello there,

Interesting to see your comments.

Our (newly lauched) rear Solenoid Operated Suzuki Diff Lock retails at £582 inc. VAT, for the complete kit including halfshafts and wheel bearing kits.
The most recent figures we have for ARB is £405 for the locker, plus £128 for the compressor, plus VAT = £626, and you don't get a new set of heavy duty halfshafts etc.

As Santana's OEM Diff lock designers and suppliers, we have supplied over 2600 units for their Military PS10's, plus it has now has UK Military type approval. It is the same system that we have applied to the Suzuki Locker, only we have compacted it to fit in the "limited" space environment for the suzuki.

We have ADK Suzuki testing the first official locker. I believe he's going to be photographing the installation on his website.

Anyhow, thought I'd just make a comment and an update as our name was mentioned.

Happy Off-Roading !

HI Kamdiffs - does the Suzuki kit fit just the SJ/ Samuri's or do you do kits for the Jimny and Vitara as well?
