Electric Aerial

I caught a low branch on my way home from work yesterday & bent the aerial on my Pajero, I got home and gently straightened it and it will go down to the last section & goes up ok so I do not need to replace it but I was wondering how easy it is to replace. Can you just replace the telescopic bit or do you have to buy a complete aerial :?:

Thanks

chris9119:
You have to replace the complete unit as the mechanism that makes it go up and down is connected to the tip and drive motor.

Does anyone know where I can get an aerial unit & approx how much. Also is it easy to change or am I better off putting up with it as it is??

hi...you can replace just the antenna part    i did it with my shogun when i had it...simple job aswell. if i remember correctly the antenna part was about 18 pounds from mitsi......i think ( was along time ago now   ).

to replace.

make sure stereo is turned off and antenna is as far down as possible
undo the chrome nut on the bottom of antenna .....where is meets the car
now turn radio on so antenna extends. it will keep coming out

now get new one and push into hole.. turn the radio off and wait for it to pull the new atenna in. do up the nut again.

one thing to watch for when removing it is when it comes out watch the plastic strip inside. see which way it is facing. when putting the new one in try and make sure it goes in the same way

i hope this helps abit. if not give me a shout

Or fit a rubber duck type aerial, not so prone for ripping out

Another option is a pillar mounted one
