Do you think it would be easier to remove the front wings?

i've had my engine out about 3 times now, and each time i've done it i've left the wings in place. but having seen photos of other people with the wings off, when i swap to the tdi, i'm taking the wings off to make things a bit easier.

Not all 3.5 Litre V8s give the same power.  The Stage 1 (with restrictors removed) would give no more than the early 110, and that's around 110bhp and 185lb/ft torque.

The trouble comes from where the maximum power and torque is in the rev range.  A V8 has the maximum torque further up in the rev range while the TDi has it near the bottem of the rev range (hence why it is so good in an off-roader).  With the TDi's max torque being so low down, you will probably end up hitting the max torque nearly all the time when driving around town.  The result is that I would assume it has the same effect as dumping the clutch on a V8 at max torque, thanks to the turbo boost having an "instant" torque increase.  :wink:

I'm not sure if what I said makes much sense... but oh well.  :lol:

So if im wacking in this engine would it be benificial to e to change the gearbox and transfer box at the same time? if so what would be the ideal to put in to its place?
