More help needed!

Sorry for asking so many qs but Im really stumped now!
Re fitted the dizzy after diagnosing siezed ad / ret unit and now...... it wont ******* START! :evil: :evil: There is a good spark at the plugs, petrol is getting there but it isnt even trying. Occasionally it will pop in the exhaust as it ignites unburnt petrol but thats it. Its timed for the rotor arm to be at No1 plug lead at TDC as per manual (or very close) although I have tried it both ways. I tried a new rotor and dizzy cap in case that was it but still no joy. So O wise ones.... what the hell am I doing wrong? I have tried on both petrol and LPG but no difference. The plug leads are on correctly, I didnt touch them before it stopped running.

Is there dizzy drive an offset key? If not, I'd guess that your'e 180 degrees out. Try turning the drive or (quicker and easier) swap the plug leads (opposites) - you can easily swap them back if no joy
Edit - thinking about it - with eight leads as opposed to 4, you're probably as well to turn the drive

I tried the rotor arm both ways, lifting the distributor out and rotating the arm 180 and still no difference... Thats what really puzzles me. Cant imagine having fouled 8 plugs at once and theres a nice blue spark from the plug so I dont know? It never seemed that sensitive to timing before and Ive tried twisting the dizzy a bit at a time.

You need to go back to basics, assume nothing untill you've checked it out.

May sound mad but try it at 20 deg BTDC if that runs then check timing chain and dissy. Just any idea as saw one that would not start he did that and it fired up ok.
