Well having collected "jessika" now and starting to look at the work needed, I guess I better introduce myself to this forum ;) hehe

Its a 1960 Series 2 with a 2.25 Petrol and a Series 3 rebuilt gearbox.

Is there anyone local to J18 of M6 to come and help me decide on a strip to chassis restoration or a work on what is already there.  Ive never owned a Series before but Im will chuffed with what Ive got here.

Is there a book or a CD or something that would give me part numbers/specs for various nuts and bolts, washers etc

Taking over from a unfinished project Im not sure exactly on what goes where etc and I love exploded diagrams :)

little tip ive found the hard way;

dont throw anything away, absolutly nothing even if you think you done with it.
ive nearly thrown my old bulkhead away three times but iam still taking parts off it i never thought i would need. i also threw away the bolts that hold the front wings on, and i coulnd get anymore off anyone.

I doubt I have all the nuts and bolts hence the reason for the specs/part numbers ;) hehe

Guess thats always going to be one of the problems when taking on a project half way through from someone else.

I still prefere the coil sprung motor's but since fixing up kate's series 3 i have been converted back (a bit)

Not really sure either to restore it nicely, or a quick restore and get it MOTd and on the road quick, or what to really do.

Need to really have a good poke underneath with a screwdriver I suppose to help decide.

The parts books that tim mentioned are avalable from LRO book store. unfortunately mine are down stairs so not got the numbers to hand.  You can also get the LR workshop manuals that are far better than the Haynes books.

Your bank manager will hate you for ever more.  :P

Hi Damo you have a proper project for yourself there. My Experience with leafers is mainly series 3 but they are not that different. If you want a second opinion on what needs doing i'd be happy to have a run over and help you to decide.

When putting my landy back together I tend to use metric nuts and bolts now.  Its a bit of a mash, but atleast all the bolts are new and I don't have to mess about trying to find the correct imperial spanner (I'm young and imperial measurements are still a bit of a mystery!).
