Just a thought...
WishIhadaLandy:
... has anyone tryed bob-tailing a 110?
I was thinking about this the other day, i'd heard of people bob-tailing comp 90's to give an even better departure angle, but what about keeping the 110 wheel base but give yourself the better departure angle of a 90, still got more load space.
I know it would still have the slight disadvantage of the long wheel base but it was just a thought.
Henry Webster:
My dad had a bob tailed racing 110 hi-cap, I'll try and scan some photos after the weekend.
There were a pair of them that used to race with the AWDC in the late 80's early 90's. Keith Gott had the other one.

Eeyore:
Thought about it long and hard, and I still think it is the way forward, particularly if you're going up in tyre size.
There was a yellow, trayed and bobbed 110 on the Scorpion / AWDC challenge series last year. There are a few folk trying it now.
I quite fancy giving it go at some point, as I've seen some events where is would just be the right way forward but I've not normally found departure angles a problem (approach, yes). I just use a decent tank guard as a slider plate!
.....noisey but effective!
cheers

Frog Island (or Nene Overland?) 'bob-tailed' a 110 County & also cut it down to a 100" a few years ago.
It looked jolly nice as well, if naff-all load-space

Judging by my recollection of the hairpins in Radnor, you and I are both going to be using this approach this weekend!
I have had to replace the tow bar/tank guard bolts once a year for the past few. I keep landing the car on the towbar. Have modified the design now though.
