Worlds best lyrics
Jim-Willy:
Well nobody else has said which surprises me as its the obvious choice. Like the song or not You would be hard pressed to find better lyrics really........ Needs no introduction
Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.
Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who
That it's namin'.
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'.
Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway
Don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There's a battle outside
And it is ragin'.
It'll soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'.
Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don't criticize
What you can't understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is
Rapidly agin'.
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'.
The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is
Rapidly fadin'.
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin'.

REM - Imatation of life
You are the greatest thing, the greatest thing since bread came sliced, you've got it all, you've got it sussed
Maybe not the *best* but definatly a cute song :D

Looking at my avatar you can tell my favorite lyricist is IAN DURY, always was and always will be. His list of one liners is endless. I was also partial to the lyrics of FISH from Marillion years ago.
One verse from a track by BUSH was paricularly apt for me at a particular time in my life, separated and lonesome, living out of a suitcase
Deaf, dumb and thirty
Starting to deserve this
Leaning on my conscience wall
My blood is like wine
Unconscious all time
If I had it all again I'd change it all
Wolfie:
Currently just about my favourite, and scarily appropriate :!:
"I'm 35 and I haven't travelled far
And I've spent all my money on this misbegotten car"
Written by Warren Zevon, but never recorded by the man himself. Brought out of obscurity by his son Jordan for the tribute album "Enjoy Every Sandwich"
Regards
Wolfie

"Love the kind you clean up with a mop and bucket
Like the lost catacombs of Egypt only God knows where we stuck it
Hieroglyphics? Let me be Pacific I wanna be down in your South Seas
But I got this notion that the motion of your ocean means "Small Craft Advisory"
So if I capsize on your thighs high tide, B-5 you sunk my battleship
