Gearbox oil

Leigh:
Here we go, probably a stupid question. Looking at changing the gearbox oil. I know the transfer gearbox needs 90EP and the manual says the main gearbox needs ATF. But where is the main gearbox drain/filler? Found it on the transfer box but is the gearbox one only on automatics????

Cheers again  :?

Xtremeteam:
filler is on the drivers side & is a torx 50 plug

drian plug is on the RHS bottom & is a 32mm plug i think

Leigh:
I thought that was the transfer gearbox oil?

I'll take another look

DiscoDan:
Hi.

The locations mentioned above are correct but I think the filler plug is T55, not T50. Apologies of I am wrong. Don't drain the oil until you have made sure you can remove the filler plug, incase it has been overtightened. Use a new washer on the drain plug when refitting. Have you tried the Difflock Evolution oil for this box? It's worth it.

The transfer box drain is just forward of the casing rear face, & the filler is in the rear face of the T'box, 1/2" drive if I remember correctly.

Good luck, Dan

Leigh:
Wish I read this saturday, need to buy a new washer tomorrow its now dripping on the side of the road. Is there an easy way of filling the gearbox? Ended up removing the front prop!

Transfer box had a splash of water and a tiny drop of black treacle. No oil    That'll explain that strange noise. Now gone
