bird flu found in scotland

Realy bad news. I can see this going the same way now as foot and mouth with countryside being closed off
 :(

Found a dead bird a couple of weeks ago outside the front of the house, I honestly thought it had flown into a power cable and broke its neck, didnt consider bird flu. I'll keep my eyes peeled for more as it was a crow and theyre hanging around in large flocks at the moment.

DEFRA on the page Avian influenza (bird flu): Impact on the countryside states "In the event of an outbreak of Avian Influenza (AI) the countryside would not be closed down as it was during the outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) in 2001"

They seem to have learnt a bit from the FMD fiasco.

I just hope that it doesn't get here, I like "my" swans, even if he is bad tempered when she is sitting on the nest.

Would it be worth giving DEFRA a call? if you just bined the body then no point but if its beeen burried then they may want a look at it
