um.. did I miss something there ??

There was an illegal obstruction on a PRoW  (in this case a footpath)..  as I understand it, you have the right to remove such an obstruction provided you don't take any of it or cause undue damage.

The 'wilder' ways to abate it and the more 'questionable' advice was put down by what seem like a number of pretty reasonable posts.

I'm not one to side with the RA... but come on... do we really need to go looking for fights ?

Just have a think about some of the things posted on here (often in jest) about abating obstructions on byways.......

Please don't tar us all with the same brush - I enjoy getting both my four wheels muddy, and my two feet (admittedly I do not wear a bobble hat). I don't classify myself as a rambler.........a long-distance dog-walker, and competent hill/mountain walker/climber yes - but rambing, no!

Just what I was thinking, we would be up in arms if it was a BOAT or ORPA that was illegally obstructed.

I should have added a rider I suppose - in that it seems the ramblers are just like us - i.e. there are the sensible ones - and the *not* sensible ones :(

However - my point still stands that we ALL damage the land.....be it on 2 wheels, 2 feet, 4 feet, 4 wheels or a pogo stick....

Yes I thought the replies some were very sensible from the ramblers site. Good luck to them. What am I saying, leave the 4x4's alone you bobble hats.

i know that walking route quite well, and have been through there many times, but i have never come across an electric fence on it.
in some places the path isnt that clear, so i think these people were not actually on the path.
there are paths that can be followed, i guess made by cattle, but they go across farm land, not a PRoW.
