wheel lean

(1/6) > >>

tjsj:
Got my new disco yesterday evening and it looks to me like the top of the passenger side front wheel is leaning in a very slight bit. Its got a 3 inch lift and 235/85/r16 tyres in case they do anything to make it like that. Anyone know what might be wrong, if anything??

thermidorthelobster:
Have you jacked up the wheel and given the swivel a good shake, in case there's a problem with the swivel bearings / pins?

Disco Inferno:
first check swivel pins and bearing, most likley to be the top bearing which has gone

the other possibility is that the swivel is bent, i've seen this happen on 90 after a particularly heavy landing

Henry Webster:
Its not usually the swivel that bends imo.  If it is not the pins or just a bent wheel, then it is likely to be a bent axle.

I wonder how I know - www.discoverysport.co.uk

As Mr Lobster says give the wheel a good shake and spot for any play.  Failing that have a look from the front and see whether it is displaying negative camber (i.e. wheels leaning in at the top.)

Do you know whether the vehicle had been heavily off roaded?

Cheers

H

tjsj:
I'll jack it up later on to have a look. It's only very very slight in not at all it may just be the ground it was parked on.
