heeelp leadboots ! or someone, my 200tdi disco in my defender is being funny with me because i drounded it at the weekend  :shock: and now if u steadly apply tyhe right foot...it wil start to go and then it will drop back off the power and i get a screching sound from a belt, alternator light comes on  :shock:  
so checked the belt...its tight and not slipping  :?
but if i floor it and let it rev right out, it doesnt do it  :?

have you WD'd the alternator itself??

Check your power steering pump, is it contaminated, its the link to the alternator as well, any screeching from any of the pulleys,

when it screeches the battery light comes on  :shock:   alternator packin in ?  :?  ino it was on its last legs.... it stood for 2 weeks without moving and then has been used all last week by me, but the alt wasnt crunching and grinding like it was before it was deserted
