Some of us had already hinted at Gordon Browns sneak tactics in earlier threads.

I pointed this little fact out to one of the 'smug-git' Doctors with a 2.0litre Fiesta Sport (or whatever it is) he wasn't so smug afterwards

Until I looked at the numbers involved I didn't realise what a huge 'deception' it was. Gordan et al have managed to increase Road Tax on around 1500 'middling' car models and still managed to leave the owners thinking 4x4 'gas guzzlers' have been hit hardest!
Quite interesting in all this has been the role of the media who (knowingly or not?) paved the way for Gordon by calling it a "4x4 Tax" when it could only have ever be done on an emmissions basis.
Proof that you can fool some of the people most of time.....
Not so smug folk abound at my work place to - no less than four people in my office will face the £25 Road Tax rise on their 2.0L Euroboxes!

Of the 3042 vehicle variations not one vehicle falls into the zero road tax bracket of 100 CO2 or below (not even the Smart diesel as reported on radio 4 yesterday)

The BBC website listed a few £0 tax cars? what was your source? :?

It was mentioned in the "thing", can't remember its name now, but the thing which listed the tax changes and such on cars. The trouble is, the cars which would have no tax or very very little tax on emissions, can't be bought in the UK!
