19J TD bottom end differences?
pondy653:
Hi all maybe some one out there can answer this question?
Apart from the timing case, pistons, cam, ladder frame, etc. what, if any are the differences between the 19J TD Block and the 200TDi. I know the crank is the same. The reason I ask is I have a 200TDi in my Def with a worn keyway on the crank which is allowing the timing to slip by a couple of degrees (makes a hell of a difference). I have been given a good TD bottom end and the condtion of my 200 is unknown until I get the head off. So hopefully for the sake of a glaze bust and a set of pistons, bigs mains, thrusts and a few gaskets I could be back on the road in a couple of days whith a relatively new engine (providing the heads not scrap).

im not sure, but i think the stroke is different for the td over the 200, as the 200 tdi pistons are slightly longer, but dont quote me on this as i aint sure
Xtremeteam:
the 200 pistons are totally different,as is the head etc
the only thing i can think of thats the same on both engines is the crank
extreme90:
yes the pistons are shorter... or longer :? which changes the stroke af the crankshaft as it doesnt go up as far, but as i said i aint sure, just knew there was a difference in the pistons..not just the crown, the skirt is different aswel
Porny:

Only the length of the con rod or the throw of the crank changes the stoke. Piston depth is irrelevent.
200Tdi is very different to a Td and are not interchangeable AFAIK...
