Tyres
andygod:
I shall be fitting a new set of tyres this week. I think that I'll be going for Colway 4 X 4 M T Range 235/85/16. I have a 2" suspension lift and don't mind a bit of wheel arch trimming. I want to raise the diffs a little; do you think this tyre size will be ok? Can anybody suggest a better size? and say why.
strapping young lad:
tyre size should be fine but the rear arches will need trimming a bit to let the wheel travel up
the steering angle will have to change as the tyres will rub at lock (adjust the bolts on the hubs to shorten the angles accordingly)
also your speedo will need adjusting (it will read slower than what you are travelling.) some people dont do this, this is up to you and the MOT examiner ;)
Budgie:
It may also be worth changing the bump stops to the extended ones, it just stops the tyres rubbing the inner arches on full articualtion and they don't cost too much.
strapping young lad:
aye that is true
scorpion racing i believe sell these (orange ones so they look cool underneath! ;))
Budgie:
So do Paddocks (bottom of the page) and they are £7.50 + Vat each.
Oh, it says "not 300 TDi" but they fit fine, mine do.
