I noticed that in Romania.  Youd be travelling down the road on a good metalled surface when all of a sudden the tarmac would end.  Then the fun started.  

At night there would be a very faint red glow in front .... there were no street lights.  The red glow turned out to be farmer Piles in his horse drawn cart  which had a red bucket on the back with a torch glowing through it!

is bulgaria/croatia good places to take a 2yr old and a 6 month old?

its out of the norm and not the type of place where "benidorm" type people go

Can't comment on Bulgaria but Croatia is fine.  Taking mine there in September for the village festivals.

£7k for a house...........couldnt buy a garage for that here..

its a nice place and going to take the kids there in the summer only a two and a half hour flight and good skiing in the mountains and a long beaches on the black sea coast
my place is inland near the turkish border in the wine growing areas nice hot summers
need to drive there this time lots to take out with us but will fly later on
