As i was saying earlier before my post disapeared into the abyss. My 300tdi has just been in for a cylinder head gasket change.

My dad picked the motor up for me today, and when i got home about 7ish went to take it for a spin, when i found all my CD;s had gone appart from the disk in the player and the other 2 in the passengers door pocket

So now im angry because i got a £550 bill, and 8 albums missng from my collection. The garage has the usual sign, valuables left at owners risk, but i have since found out that the vehicle was sent to another garage for the work.

I trusted this guy as i have used him for 5 years for all my cars, as have my parents and i also use him for trailer hire for my business

So where do i stand,..... any advice?

strapping young lad:
go back and ask for them back, or say that you will go to the fuzz

gtomo2:
dont worry about the sign it dont mean a thing. Had my back window broke in a car wash and the garade had the sign up but when i contacted c.a.b about it they said if you payed for the service they are liable and they payed up. At the end of the day it is theft from you vehicle. Which the sign wont cover. go see c.a.b and they will help you out also have a talk to the police and see what they say. good luck and stand firm

Budgie:
Speak to the garage tomorrow (if they're open) if not then Monday and explain the situation.
After they have had a chance to explain and if they don't want to know about it, tell them that you're going to report the theft to the Police once you've finished this call.

If the garage don't have an answer then report it as a theft from a motor vehicle and leave it in the hands of the Police.
Remember: You had a contract with that garage to undertake the work, not any substitute company, so as far as you are aware the theft occured on their property, unless they admit it went elsewhere for the work!!  In which case you also question the point of giving them the work in the first place.

You will have to pay the garage for the work carried out, unless you are unhappy with that work, or you could get into problems under Civil law! This is a case of theft, not bad workmanship!!

Good luck with whatever you think is best.

First make sure the cds that went missing would not embarass you. i.e Westlife album, Chas and Dave and all the other stuff which I know absolutely nothing about.
