Diff gaurds

I have a diff gaurd that I purchased from paddocks but seems too big for the diff pan, I tightened the bolts right up until they ran out of thread and the gaurd was still too big, shall i just use some other bolts with a longer thread or do i just have wierd diff pans?

How much too big is it??

too big, the gaurd would drop off even when the bolts are fully tightened.

Is it the pan sort??
