I did stoke to Poole once (and back again the next week) in a SWB diesel 2A. About 240miles I reckon. We were in convoy with a petrol 2A and averaged about 45mph most of the way
My diesel was very full of rucksacks and camping kit for about 10 people along with a passenger. I had a full roofrack and the back full of stuff to the roof.
Went fairly well until we got stuck in some traffic in a town somewhere and i started overheating and then my header tank cracked and started leaking (it was squirting all over like a waterpistol). After stopping in a bus stop and getting some water from a very nice lady in a nearby flat we had to go to halfords where we bought some fibreglass and encased my header tank :)
Still havent replaced it yet 5 years later but i rebuilt the engine and it now runs a lot coooler!

Not as far as yours granted :) but a little more worring.
Bought my first landy just before xmas, a Series III 88" Diesel. Got a lift to Deal near Dover from my home in Blandford Dorset to take a look at it.
It's 200 miles or 3 1/2 hours according to multimap.com, but took closer to 4 1/2 to get there what with the M25 at tea time etc.
Anyway arrived in the dark took it for a test drive wasn't totally impressed, bulb went in our only torch whilst checking her over etc. Decided not to buy as the guy wouldn't budge on the price and we wern't to sure about the condition.
About 5 mins after driving away had a phone call on my mobile, seller agreed to meet half way on price, so I bought the heap :)
Left Deal at about 10:30hrs got back to Blandford at 5. Really chuffed she'd made it all the way under her own steam (litrally) with nearly all the lights we had set off with.
Still working on her now though, chassis' been rebuilt/welded, second hand bulkhead is now fitted, dash is in, just the body work and a head gasket to go :)
Next time I'll take a spare torch.
I'm actually very pleased with my purchase, she made it home, that was good enough for me. An edge of the seat drive though esecailly seing as I had to hold her in 4th all the way as it kept juming out.
