ISTR they had to go through a similar process when challenged over a Discovery advert...  it was towing a 747 :-)

I believe so, back in the 60's they just got on with it & towed a rake of railway wagons.
They did the same with the Discovery when it was launched as well (I've seen pictures of a Police liveried '200' shape on rails)

On a similar vein, a near-neighbour, who's a ROW officer with the S3 Club, & occasionally does press work/off-road demos for LR, recently told me that (I think he said) a factory contact told him that they'd had a Defender on rails & it had moved almost a 1000tons!!!!!
Seems a bit excessive, but given the relative lack of friction,  I have no reason to doubt him
