Drop the fuse panel down underneath the steering wheel then crouch down and look up towards the front of the car towards the side of the fan controls and see if the cable is missing off the slider - bit hard to describe in words but once you're looking up into the dash it should be pretty obvious if it has come off :wink:

dropped fuse panel at lunch time
the cable had come adrift, pushed a metal clip into a plastic hole loop over pin quick test and shut panel 5 mins of a job

enjoyed both my discos.. 1990 V8 3 door was fun..1995 5 door 300tdi was reliable even with 215,000 on the clock, just remember to purchase a set of lock springs off ebay - you WILL need them, 3 door it was the drivers door, 5 door was the rear door.. pain to repair, LR want seventy odd quid for the assembly ebay do the springs for about a fiver for the set,
