--- Quote ---The Cotton Famine Road is a lane (I think it's an ORPA) that is partially cobbled and goes across Rooley Moor near Rochdale.

from the maps, it seems that the cobbled road from Rochdale is called Rooley Moor Road. Maybe the Cotton Famine Road is the section at the fork to the left on the Ramsbottom side of the route.

Following on from 'Woodys' rat thread & your question about the Atki's at Millhouse Green, I remembered stopping & taking the picture below (must be my age  )
It was my mate with the Mines Rescue Atkinson who told me about them after I had said where I got the 110 from
The precise location is Birks Avenue & Millhouse Lane
There's also the collection of Sankey cabbed Leylands ('pre' Marathon shape) at Denholme (between Halifax & Haworth on the A629) in a yard roughly here

Looking at this section of map, Frank Elson (the 'LRM' & 'Bolton Evening News' journalist) maybe a person to contact???
I'm pretty sure he lives in Cowpe & may know about it
I think his e-mail is; frank@lrm.co.uk
