nah ,ya should have come with us,most of the getting stuck bits was down to driver error not tyres  :D ....the landies were on very road bias tyres

More a whine than a whistle, I'm sure its coming from underneath  rather than up front

Wheel bearings are a first port of call... jack the wheels up and listen for noise / look for movement.

Next might be diff bearings... but this is a bit less common

Thanks I'll take a look tomorrow, although it passed its mot a couple of weeks ago and the noise started before then. Wouldn't it have failed on wheel bearings if it was them?
