I don't think so as the vacuum is provided by the engine on a V8.  It's worth checkiong all the vac hoses once in a while anyway, they should be checked at the service

If somebody does have probs with lack of servo, normally a broken pipe with make a lovely whistle or sucking noise, but if the side wall of the pipe is weak, it may just suck itself in, so if you do loose braking sometime and cant see anything obvious, servo pipe should have strong walls and is specific pipe for the job, I have seen normal heating pipe in replacement for this and is not advised.

old joe:
mine split last year i just pulled into TEC to check on something and it happened mentioned it to one of the mechanics on site and found it straight away.

BT mechanics are good you know.

Reality check:
Yes this is a problem but you don't "Loose all your brakes" You loose servo assistance, if you get that shove really hard on the pedal and you will stop.

The problem can come on any engine, the Diesel has a vacumn pump the V8 uses the manifold vacumn but both have to pipe that vacumn to the servo.

The easy way to check the servo assistance is to sit in the car with it stopped and pump the brakes till they are hard, start the engine and you should feel the pedal go down, if you get that you have at least some assistance.

Main point if it ever fails stand on the brakes, all the critical bits will still work.

grizz:
the T looks similar to the cruise control one on the v8, I lost cruise control an found the pipe split
