buying a winch, why so hard?
muddysteve:
i'm looking to get a superwinch ep9 for the front of the rangie and have been phoning around a few suppliers for prices etc. one i phoned quoted me £660 and when i mentioned it was a bit on the steep side i was told i wont get one for under £500 unless its second hand/not genuine/has all the genuine parts removed and cheaper ones fitted
he asked what company had quoted me and basicaly accused but without directy saying that goodwinch etc remove all the genuine superwinch parts (fairlead/cable/remote etc) and fit cheaper alternatives
sounds like a load of crap to me as i have dealt with all the companies i've tried before and not had any problems. it just puts doubts in you mind about buying a big safety critical lump like a winch and it not being what its meant to be
any ideas/opinions?
Steve

I don't think you will have any problems with Goodwinch or the likes. As discussed before, the EP9 is a budget winch which is fine for light use and will do just fine in these circumstances. If I remember correctly, mine came from David Bowyer and he was very helpful.

If he thinks £500 is good with all the bits then why is his so much?
