Midland Off Raod Club organise competitive trials in your area although the entry fee will still mean you're paying.

Try www.midlandoffraodclub.co.uk and look for events and contacts. We are planning a standard production trial suitable for all 4x4 that don't want to get scratched but want some fun.

You may find it not quite suitable but it would tell you what trials are all about. I enjoy them some people can't stand them as there is some hanging about. That said the course you have to drive, no stopping, no hitting garden canes will be tricky hopefully exciting but basically safe subject to driver lunacy. I still get the colly wobbles when I see what I'm expected to drive.

Hello willieuk

Why don't you join in with the midland section of Mud club, we had a green lane event last weekend that was free to all and are now planning the next one. Our next meeting is on Monday, We have others in our section from Coventry. See the Regional meetings section of this forum for more detail. :D  :D  :D

How about trying Wales!! Plenty of green lanes for you.

Hey muddyjames it all depends which trial you go to. Midland Off Road trials are exciting enough but usually you feel Ok about everything while AWDC in the same area can be a bit more 'demanding'. You know it's good when your knees arten't all there or you get teh shakes after teh section  :D .

I think the Standard Production trials MOC are planning will offer a nice way into trials for anyone interested. The idea is to have fun driving tricky courses but with the assurance that they were planned with zero risk of damage. That's not to say they won't be exciting.

I enjoy the mix of lanes and trials as they offer different aspects of the same recreation. I got bored with play days as they didn't offer any structure. I'd like to do non winch challenege events but I don't think many/any exist (and I admit I have no passenger to call on as daughters have left hoem and wife is reluctant).
