removal of bumpers
Discotel:
I am looking to remove the bumpers on my D1 in order to measure up to make a winch/heavy duty bumper and rear bumper. CAn someone tell me how easy it is please and does anyone have a drawing/dimensions of one they have done.
Thanks, Terry

:D your best source for that will be to have a look at www.discoweb.org there are a few home made bumpers on there have a look in the tech area
Jake:
All you have to do is remove the 4 main bolts and it 'should' just fall to the floor.
The rear bumper is held on with 2 bolts
(just in case you want to make a rear one too)
:D
Discotel:
Thanks guys, I got the rear off today, only took 10 mins to get off. Just measured up for the rear one first and will do the front at the weekend. I also took the tow bar off, but sheared one of the bolt heads that hold it to the chassis so if you have any ideas how to get it out let me know please.
I will be making around 4 front/rear bumpers if anyone is interested in them at a cheap price. They will be folded on a promecam machine, 5mm steel and have either built in recovery eyes or holes for a bolt on tow ball, pus jacking points. I am going to be asking £150 for the front ones and £140 for the rear ones unpainted or powder coated/galvanised for £175.
When I have made them I will post pictures of them fitted to my D1 offroader.
Thanks, Terry
