Glow plug upgrade set
landroverkeith:
:) woo hoo just picked up my glow plug upgrade set for the series 3 the instructions make it look really easy or is this a con lol the haynes book of mistakes has caught me out b4 with the "this looks easy" bit anything i should consider when doing it ?
Fingers Crossed that with these and a fully charged battery i can finnaly get her to start again
Neil Jones:
When we changed my plugs it was easy enough, just wire in in the same way the old ones come out, they only need about 10secs of pushing the button before they work, very good indeed.
Good Luck
landroverkeith:
8) woo hoo changed the plugs after a bit of fighting with the screwcaps to get the wiring off ive changed em all over and rewired it up..... put the "fully charged" battery back in....... jumped into "the cockpit" turned the key and woo hoo cold start light bam str8 away buring its little self out saying go on start me start me i dare ya lol.....
anyways ........... the end of it all now it wont even turn over on the key :(
should i be looking at starter motor next ?
Neil Jones:
I had huge efforts trying to start mine a while back. I replaced the starter motor with one off a freelander diesel, fits exactly, not sure if it goes fast enough, but it started the vehicle ok. How about a heavier duty battery and of course make sure there are no short circuits anywhere to drain the battery out.
ian_s:
so its been sat for a while?
does it make a clonk when you turn the key?
i think your right with the starter motor being iffy, or possibly its the solenoid ontop of the starter thats seizing
