not quite sure as i thought the 300tdi was mechanical
i know the TD5 has an ECU but didnt think the 300 tdi had

Only works on a AUTO

late 300 tdi's were ecu'd and fly by wire.

yep,the last of the 300's auto n manual were ECU controlled
