From The Free Dictionary:

Umm, clear as mud :?

Read on through the explanations and examples - nope, doesn't help

So, anyone care to take on the challenge of explaining irony to me?

Jake:
A clever version of sarcasm.

ChrisW:
Something to do with clothes and an irony board?  :(biglaugh):

--- Quote from: "Jake" ---A clever version of sarcasm.

Umm, read the section titled "Irony and sarcasm" on the link I gave. :?

Jake:

--- Quote ---An example of irony without sarcasm would be an understated "not bad", said to someone who has just done something extraordinary and impressive. Both the speaker and the listener hear the literal meaning of "acceptable, but no better", and understand the intended meaning, of strong approval and admiration. They share a perception of irony.
--- End quote ---

I've been known to do this regarding tough questions at home.
i.e - does this outfit look nice?. Or, How was dinner?
To which i usually reply "yeah, not bad"
I always wonder why i get a funny (nasty) look!!
Maybe i should be more careful with my words.
