Lockers
landraver:
I'm looking to purchase a locker for the 90 (300 axles) 8) 8) 8)
Which would be best to go for :?:
Arb air / trutrac / another
Funds only allow me to get one, and I presume it would be best on the rear axle. Is that right :?: :? :?: :?
Also would the 300 axles be 10 or 24 spline :?:
Thanks
Jeff
Xtremeteam:

Nothing against LSD like the trutrac etc as they work extremely well in 99% of cases, but with a diff lock I personally prefer to manually control it.
As to where to fit, yes the rear. If you go for one,it's much more useful there than on front. Due to risk of breaking CV's it is sensible to limit use of a front locker in straight ahead uses unless you are happy in spending pounds on repairs.
ARB are extremely reliable, easy to fit and most popular so spares etc are easy to get. You got to take into account air compressor cost if you don't already have a suitable one.
KAM's latest diff locker is supposed to have a good reputation, but I've yet to seen it used much. It's price is good though at about 600 pounds per axle including HD half shafts.
Maxi-Drive - excellent reputation, super high prices - about 1000 per axle with their HD half shafts
McNamara Hypoid diff again has a great reputation especially from RR drivers on Outback Challenge - I have no idea about price of this.
Good luck with your purchase, they are a very useful feature. Once you buy one though you are on the slippery slope of beefing up your driveline and spending lots of pounds :) :) :) :)
Cheers
Steve
