Benji:
I had gas shocks fitted to my disco about 8 months ago when one fell off!
I think they were from scorpian racing (if not them, then one of the other big ads in the mags).
To be honest the improvement in the ride was hardly noticeable. They were only about a tenner each more than the standard shocks but i was hoping for a better improvement though. :?
I expect the more expensive shocks will be significantly better than your standard set, especailly if they are well worn. I think i remember seeing a test in LRO recently, might be worth hunting a copy down (but their tests are normally pretty useless as there isn't a performance comparison, just price and size etc).
Or trade it in for a TD5, the ride in those is great!!! :)

I had OME shocks on my old Disco I. Not the cheapest, but they were pretty damn good. The difference was noticeable when you'd been hacking down a rocky track for mile after mile and they'd really started to warm up. I'd go for them again, in fact, I think I probably will.

IF YOUR STAYING AT STANDARD RIDE HEIGHT, I'D RECOMMEND MONROE ADVENTURER GAS SHOCKS.THEY'RE REASONABLY CHEAP, PERFORM VERY WELL AND HAVE A 2yr GUARANTEE.
