Jack. Rest In Peace
Lee_D:
Richard , regards your other dog fretting , I don't know if it will help but Our Sally (Collie GSD cross) has been relatively ok since Zak passed. The day I took Zak we were going to Gaydon for the weekend. I took him in the Morning to the vets, then up to Ma and Pas for the burial along side his brother (mum had another GSD from the same litter).
It was really difficult to carry on but we have young kids and they were looking forward to a long weekend in the Caravan. We took Sally with us, I think it was just the distraction we all needed. I couldn't have cared where we went at the time but we were all together as family looking after Sally. She's been fine but I often wonder whats going on in her mind, damn if only they could speak! Give yours pleanty of love and attention and some extra special days out, I'm sure she will bounce back.
Give her a big hug from us!

A friend sent this to me when our border collie died before xmas ......
Says it all .....
If it should be that I grow frail and weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep
Then you muct do what must be done
For this, the last battle, can't be won.
You will be sad- I understand
Don't let your grief then stay your hand
For this day, more than all the rest
Your love and friendship stand the test.
We've had so many happy years
What is to come can hold no fears
You'd not want me to suffer, so
When the time comes, please let me go.
I know in time you too will see
It is a kindness you do to me
Although my tail, it's last has waved
From pain and suffering I've been saved.
Don't grieve that it should be you
Who has decided this thing to do
We've been so close, we two these years
Don't let your heart hold any tears.
Feel for you hun

That is lovely. Trust a Lass to sum it up for us. Its true aswell, its the last act of kindness you can do for the old b*****s, I wish i'd taken Rufus to be killed myself and regret not doing really.
