Leaking Sunroof fitted as standard?
Berliner Beer:
Happy new year to you all. I wasn't sure where to post this so i'll try the bar. My defender 110 sw has a sunroof AKA shower. When a take a roundabout (living in milton keynes) it rains in my lap (brrrrrrr). ](*,) Also when I have left the bav mobile in the rain I return to a wet seat. Should I just seal my sunroof with silcone sealant to stop this or does any one have any bright ideas on how to improve the tea bag water proof properties of the defender's roof. PS thankyou to Turtle, Mace and Old Joe for offereing to help fit me snork.....I did it with the help of SWMBO and we did a good job. I nice to know there are great people willing to offer a hand.....drinking my beer! Cheers again see you all at whaddon!

Oh they all do that sir, it's a Land Rover!
But seriously, a few suggestions:
Has the seal (against the glass) perished or got damaged?
Check the seal between the frame and the roof (a bit of silicone here may be in order).
I presume its just the glass "tilt or remove" type so unlikely to have drain pipes as these often get blocked on Discos, Rangies and Freebies causing water to collect with the inevitable result.
Is it the sun roof? A common cause of "roof leaks" in Defenders is the two plastic vents in the rear of the roof. Water is driven in here and works its way forward along the top of the roof joint and then floods out at the front when cornering. Try taping over the vents and seeing if that cures it.
Or you could just go mad with the silicone!

Well not permanent, but i did this last year on mine and after a few dribble down my neck the other day, I have to service it again, just a bit of water in the seal, froze and created a gap when it started thawing, no real problem, just got to wait for the weather to stop raining or freezing and I can sort this one out again
