Dude go into ur profile and its in there under image resizer hope this helps

login on here and there is an image resizer, one of the options is avatar

I just resize the image on something simple like Paint as I have have no imaging software on my PC.  Go to image-stretch/scew and alter the % for horizontal and vertical equally. I usually do about 35%.
