Central Locking

Sharpshooter:
Hi All. I have a problem with the central locking on SWMBO's Disco

Its a 200Tdi on a J plate.

It has an aftermarket LASERLINE alarm fitted, which also has taken control of the locks.

When you lock it, all the doors lock, except the boot.

When you unlock it, only the boot and the drivers door unlock.

If you use them alot in any day, I.E. shopping, getting in and out alot, the others slowly start to work.

Is this a common prob, and how do i fix it??

All help greatfully recieved. :)

God only knows , mine died then came back to life , it works now and then at the moment!

It almost sounds like the 2 wires to the boot solenoid are reverse.  However, the fact the it all starts to work after lots of use clouds matters.  It could be that a diode/rectifier is dying somewhere.

Can you disable the alarm and try the central locking with just the key?

i had a similar thing on my old 200tdi i took all the door cards off and wd40,d everything which cured it, the pivots on the linkage get dry and stiffen up and provide resistance which makes the system mess about

same here, the drivers door was the problem. you could do it by hand or thje key, but the solenoid hadn't got enough umph. so wd40'd it and works a treat....... for now
