HELP! No room at the inn – not in Ambleside anyway.

Tom Mc:
HELP! I intend visiting Ambleside in the Lake District for the New Year festivities and can’t find anywhere to stay – no hotels, no guest houses, no B & B’s. Reckon a stable will be my only option at this rate!

Does anyone know of somewhere to stay overnight New Year’s Eve night and the following night of 1st January 2006? There is myself and Tina, my girlfriend from Stoke (but we don’t hold that against her!!!) and don’t mind ANYTHING! A sofa, floor, caravan in the garden, anything that is but a tent … might be a tad too nippy for that!

We are actually visiting Duncan Boyd of a company called Rock Bottom. He may even know him as he runs a trade stand at all the big 4x4 shows selling ‘outdoor wear’ – boots, camping gear, Rogue leather hats, etc.. He also has a shop in Ambleside called Rock Bottom and obviously lives in the area. With a full house already, it appears we are stuffed.

Any ideas? If you can help out I can guarantee a good party. Fingers crossed ... you're our last hope!!!

How close to Ambleside does it need to be? We usually stay here when in the Lakes:

Have looked at this?

Tom Mc:
Thanks for that, problem is your suggestion is too far. With the lack of taxis over New Year any accommodation has to be within walking – or should I say staggering distance! As for the second website, yes I’ve been though all those already. Again … no room at the inn. Again, thanks anyway for the thought.

Sounds like you'll be doing some product testing for two nights

Tom Mc:
Reckon I will, but enough of the local brew and I shouldn't feel the cold too much ... if at all!
