Defender Headlining

Skywalker:
Anybody have an idea what's involved in removing the headlining (and putting it back) - 110 Crewcab TD5 ?

Got a roof console for Christmas (Last year), thought I'd better get round to fitting it, would like to fit Radio and CB in it which means routing cables to both front and rear (CD Changer etc) and would like to try and shoehorn in some rear speakers.

As I've got a few days off coming up thought I might give it a go between Christmas and New Year .. just wondered how long it might take.

...........  no doubt it'll be bloody freezing again though

Cheers

Dave

No idea but I've got a roof console in the loft waiting to go in.

How are you intending to run the wires to it? The options seem to be either up the side of the windscreen or up the door pillar but I haven't decided which way to do it yet.

I know it is easy to remove the headlining....but putting it back is supposed to be a bit of a pain.

From what's been said so far it sounds like were gonna have fun Phil

From reading the instructions (Mine's an "Outback" from Devon 4x4) you can fit the console without taking out the headlining, the main reason I was thinking of taking it out was to find the best way to route the wires

Mainly (hopefully) this years chrismas present .......  CD multi changer to go with radio that's already in.  I'm told it will have 5 metre lead that you cannot extend and with the likely size of the multi plug it could be awkward to get through.

A dilemma then  :?

1) Do battle with headlining
2) Try and poke wires through with a stick

Neither sounds a 5 minuite job

Much as I am probably gonna' wish I hadn't said this ........  I'm tempted with taking out the headlining

Mikee .......

The Defender is 2 years old and the headlining is a sort of felt covered, stiff cardboard like thingie ............  is that the same type as yours
