De-Catted my 1998 300 TDi about 3 years ago.  Passed every MOT since then without any trouble at all.

Also running defender down pipes instead of those poxy flexible ones that always rot.

All petrol cars built from the 1st August 1992 require a CAT to be fitted...

Diesels are exempt from this - different test.

Just done some digging.

According to "MOT tester Monthly" No vehicle is required by law to have a catalytic converter.

But most cars fail strict emmisions testing without it.

if the emmisions are low enough that it will pass without a CAT then there is not a problem.

will try it when the cat needs replacing i think.
